    brew log sequencing

I'm still having a hard time with the mash complete first runnings volume. Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'll let my instructor know he's wrong too) but the first runnings measurement is at the beginning of the lauter, thus FIRST runnings and the last runnings measurement is at the end of the...

I stopped using plaato to track the fermentation because the krausen was getting ready to gunk it up. Can you find my log entries? Neil Kologie

    brew log sequencing

Correct me if I'm wrong but the lauter is after the mash but the first runnings are at beginning of lauter. I have a really hard time with the volumes for first runnings being volume to kettle because I usually take reading at start of lauter as I'm running wort into kettle and I only have a...

    brew log sequencing

Is there any way to add a lauter step for first and last runnings? It could come after the mash complete and the sparge water could be included. I think the mash complete, mash complete first runnings, and mash complete last runnings are very cumbersome and hard to figure out the times for each

Grain ppg, deg L, OG, pts, and dp

I noticed that when you enter a grain there is a little streamer below it with ppg etc. I know that ppg is the max points per pound per gallon and than deg L is related to color, and dp it diastatic power relating to proteins. My question(s) is/are: how do you calculate the pts and OG and what...

pH, salts, and volumes change in brewing water calculator

The water volumes continue to change in the water calculator. That makes the Overall Water Report (mg/L) in the recipe way off from the water profile created with the correct volumes. I've tried it in an old recipe and a new recipe (worthogs pale ale) and the liquor volume keeps changing from...

pH, salts, and volumes change in brewing water calculator

As an experiment I edited the yooper copy recipe mash guidelines and upped the volumes. Then I opened the water calculator by clicking on edit in the water calc section and the water volumes did not change. I then logged out, waited a few minutes and tried again. The water volumes remain what...

pH, salts, and volumes change in brewing water calculator

I have a 10 gallon mash ton, it's an igloo cooler (40qt in equipment profile). If I'm trying to put 12 gallons in there is that an issue with the calculator? I would figure that since your lautering at the same time you're sparging you're really not going to have any more than what's in the...

pH, salts, and volumes change in brewing water calculator

When you say mash guidelines, are you talking about the water volume that I enter in the recipe in the mash section? If so then yes it is changing. I'll put something like 12 gallons in the recipe and when I go to the calculator it pulls that over and ends up being like 9.7 or 10 gallons in the...

as an experiment I copied the mango habanero ipa recipe and changed the volumes to 4.9 and 8 and edited the water profile, saved and updated then went to the recipe and updated the water profile in the recipe and saved it. I clicked on edit in the water profile section of the recipe and the...

pH, salts, and volumes change in brewing water calculator

thanks, I noticed that the volumes in yooper copy aren't the same as in my recipe. I treat all the water, even the water left in the HLT so the heating element isn't uncovered.

pH, salts, and volumes change in brewing water calculator

I did change the volumes in the previous recipe, though never to the volumes that it automatically changed to. In the new recipe I never changed the volumes in the recipe or the water calculator but the volumes changed to a value I never used before. The recipes have similar names but they are...

if that is the case, why is it changing the volumes to something I never entered. I tried something new with a new recipe. here is my procedure I deleted all my previous water calcs then cleared all salts and acids from recipe and saved the recipe...
