    Low OG Pre-Boil

So I am doing a ESB and currently have 7.1 gallons pre-boil volume with a target fermenter volume of 5.5 gallons. My target OG pre-boil was 1.061 and it came out at 1.038. Do I let it go or add DME?

    High Alcohol Content

That very well may be it. It does not taste like solvent but it does taste like pure alcohol which very well could be Fusel. I am using a 7 gallon plastic fermenter bucket and what temp should I keep it at or where should I place it so it does not get to warm?

    High Alcohol Content

Hey Fellow Brewers, So I am new to the grain brewing and learning my ways slowly but surly. Recently I tried a ESB recipe and it came out with way high alcohol content (Over 8%) and all you could taste was the alcohol so I dumped it and want to try again. The only thing I know that did not come...

    Yeast 1/2 batch

I am brewing a 1/2 batch of ESB and the Original OG target is 1.051 and final OG target is 1.014. I am using a Burton Ale yeast packet and need to know if I should only use 1/2 the packet?

    OG Pre Boil-Post Boil

still fairly new to all grain brewing and this may be a stupid question but going to ask anyway. I am brewing a ESB today but going to cut the recipe in half. Should my Pre Boil OG and Post Boil OG be the same targets as the recipe calls for or will they change?

    Dry Hop

One more question. I did not realize the PB&J I am brewing asks for lactose. Is it a big deal if I don't use it cause I don't have any. I know it adds sweetness and body to the beer but hoping my PB2 and Grape concentrate will give it some sweetness even though the yeast will eat most if not all...

    Dry Hop

Hey I am doing my 1st brew that asks to dry hop 1 oz of Belma for 5 days. Is it OK to do this dry hop at the end of my fermentation stage. The reason I ask is brew day is today and I am leaving in the morning for a business trip for 1 1/2 weeks and was hoping I could do the dry hop when I get...

    Go Big or Go Home

Thinking about doing it next weekend. The week after I will be on the west coast for a business trip so I thought that would be a perfect time for the fermenting to take place. Keeps my eyes and mind off it while I wait for the magic to happen.

    Go Big or Go Home

Agree with you 100%. Do you have any recommendations on what a good starter would be? I am not too picky when it comes to craft beer and the styles I like.

    Go Big or Go Home

So I have been brewing extracts and kits for awhile and its boring to me. I have done a lot of research online and I am going to start brewing from raw materials. Living in North Carolina I am a avid craft brew drinker and I fell in love with Catawba Brewery's Peanut Butter and Jelly Time Brown...
