    Milled grain shelf life

My dog likes these. https://florabrewing.com/spent-grain-dog-treats/ I've made these waffles before; they were pretty good: https://brooklynbrewshop.com/blogs/themash/recipe-spent-grain-waffles I can't find the bread recipe I had used in the past, but this one's pretty close...

    Milled grain shelf life

Fwiw I just finished brewing up a batch using 10 lbs of milled grain I bought back in 2018 ( Friendly local Hombrew Shop Resilience Kit) and a couple of pounds of grains from some random Brooklyn Brew Shop 1 gal kits circa 2016(?), all were in sealed plastic bags, and kept in a room temp pantry...

    Electric Brewing

Thanks, I thought about doing that as well. I had an under-sink RO system that I've since removed - it was leaky and just a p.i.t.a., but the line tap is still there. I may re-purpose it.

    Electric Brewing

Thank you, but it doesn't. This is what we have. It works really well for cleaning though!

    Used Grainfather on craigslist

If you do end up with a 5 gallon system like the RoboBrew (I'm pretty keen on mine) you could do a Reiterated Mash. I did an 18 lb grain bill brew Sunday and it was...rough, but I got it done. It wasn't until *after* that learned about Reiteration...

    Electric Brewing

I used to brew on the porch with my propane set up (basements are rare where live), but I've moved into the house. I move the dish rack out of the way, and use my RoboBrew right next to the sink. Super convenient. After I'm done and the beer's in the fermenter, I clean it and stow it in a...

Are carbonation drops a good idea or not?

I've used them in the past and have had good and bad results. The bad results came from me miscalculating how many I had left (not enough) and how many bottles I had. Full carbonation is 4 tabs, barely carbonated is two. So some bottles got 4, a few got 3, and several got two... I also lost...

This might help with dialing in your correction factor.

    Learning about oxidation...

How has that turned out? Been reading about ascorbic acid as an antioxidant, and that it should be combined with a campden tablet to be effective, so it doesn't act as a "super oxidiser" (but I can't find the reference at the moment). I've got a NEIPA fermenting in my Catalyst right now, and was...

    Refractometer Calculator Which one??

I always cross reference Brewer's Friend with Sean Terrill's, and then the refractometer will get compared to my Tilt, and my hydrometer. They're usually all within a couple of points of each other, and that's good enough for me. I usually use my hydrometer for OG & FG (I drink both samples :-)...

What are you drinking right now?

Had me a glass of Brooklyn Brew Shop's Double Lemon Meringue Pie IPA. I think it came out pretty good. Lightly floral, nice hop character without much bitterness, and the lemon was subtle. I'll be making this again. :-)

Sierra Nevada "Resilience" recipe for Camp Fire relief

Brewing up a batch *hopefully* Sunday, and I had a can last night. Looking forward to trying a couple from different breweries around town this weekend as well. :-)

    What's your next brew

Was going to brew up a Resilience IPA last Sunday, but that didn't happen, so hoping to do it this Sunday :-) I did knock out a 1 gallon batch of Double Meringue IPA yesterday, so that was cool.

Sierra Nevada - Butte County Proud IPA

Several local breweries & brewpubs are brewing here, and a LHBS is offering kits. I'll be brewing an all grain batch this friday. This is the grain bill, etc from the kit. It'd be interesting to see how this brew tastes compared to the recipe: 9.6lb Pale 2 Row 1.2lb Caramel C-60 1oz...
