    Extract flavors

Just curious if anyone else has had the same funky issues with the flavor extracts. Did a pumpkin ale 5 gallon, added 2oz ot Graham cracker flavor during bottling. And just did a split batch of chocolate porter one with raspberry and the other with cherry. Used less than 1/4oz per 1.5 gallon...

Red Racer Clone(Help if you can or want to).

Damn you guys are good lol. Guess I have a few small batches I'm going to need to whip up. I'll have to read up on the difference between 2 row and just pale, I dont believe the shop I buy from has that either. 150,000 people and 1 place to buy grain, kind of annoying.

Red Racer Clone(Help if you can or want to).

I don't think I've ever seen dark Munich at my home brew store but I'll look again. I might toy around with some of your suggestions. Wonder why they would leave out parts of their grain bill. I suppose people copying it but honestly what's the ratio of home brews to people who just go buy it...

Red Racer Clone(Help if you can or want to).

I haven't tried brewing it yet just wanting some input before hand which you have given. I had been curious about a pound and a half of the crystal being to much as well though. Wasnt sure how to get it darker with their grain bill, makes me wonder if they left something out.

Red Racer Clone(Help if you can or want to).

Okay so I've never cloned a beer, so I'll get that out of the way right off the hop(pun fully intended) But in Vancouver years ago I had Red Racers Amber ale on tap, it was honestly one of my favorite beers at the time. I haven't had it since 2010 and most likely wont again unless I brew it...

    Carbonation Issue

It's been a week and I dont hear any popping from the closet.....yet lol. I think I'm going to stick with this calculator. I figure there is enough people using it and brewing regularly that if it was off it would be mentioned. Have to place my trust somewhere right lol. Thanks again man!

    Carbonation Issue

It only ever hit 73.4f/23c, currently it is crashing but will be back at the house temp today or tomorrow when the mind numbing task of bottling begins. I'm going to check a couple things out but like most things in my life, screw it, let's see what happens lol. Thanks man!

    Carbonation Issue

So I'm going to add a secondary question to this just for the sake of curiosity. I've never used brewers friend priming calculator which does seem to give higher sugar amounts then the one I was using(also taking into consideration the answers I got in above posts). I can only assume it's the...

    Carbonation Issue

Well I think you might have nailed it for me, with the temp difference there is a half oz difference in sugar. This is the second beer I've had issues with and the second beer I've done the carbonationing in the garage. Normally I store the bottles in a closet upstairs during the winter. And...

    Carbonation Issue

Well that makes me wonder, I'm going to have to check that but that very well could be an issue. Just thinking it was in the garage to do the carbonation which was hotter than the house when I did the calculation.

    Carbonation Issue

Maybe I did under carbonate then, I've had this issue twice now and didnt really care because the other was a small batch of scraps I had tossed together to see what I'd get. Priming calculator said to add x amount of sugar but maybe I'll have to boost it next time by a bit. Glad yours turned...

    Carbonation Issue

I turned my beer fridge up so it warmer just as a test to see so I guess I'll find out. I've pondered priming more but I looked online and this is a spiced ale so I carbbed it up for 2.5 I believe(I'd need to check the notes) just trying not to make myself 45 bottle bombs in the garage. Thanks...

    Carbonation Issue

Question about carbonation levels when bottle conditioning. I use a priming calculator so my measurements should be on par, then I boil the priming sugar, rack on top and bottle. 2 to 3 weeks later I'll pop one into the fridge for a few hours and I get a perfect beer. Lacing, head. Yet when I...

    I brewed today!

I never shoot for traditional or not, as long as it tastes good is really all that matters to me. The recipe I used didnt call for doing any but I felt like it was weakish in flavor. I'm brewing it for my mother in law and never had pacifico myself. I suppose it could be something like Corona...

    I brewed today!

Did my first lager (Pacifico Clone)attempt on Friday, pretty basic lager. Tasted pretty good and sitting at 1.046. Not sure if I want to dry hop it yet or not, feel like it might need a little extra. Only been in the fridge for 2 days so I have some time.

    Mashing

Just looked them up and their just in Armstrong which is only an hour plus away. Maybe a weekend drive to bother my wife by making her smell the hops. Well if you went to the comp between 94-98 odds are we've bumped into each other at some point. The only "brew" place in gp was in a little house...

    Mashing

Well I might just bite the bullet then. It looks like it would be easier. Seeing where your from I figured there would ve been more places to buy from. I'm from Grande Prairie originally and they only had 1 place and it just sold kits. I most likely will grab one now for my next brew. I like...
