How do you Clean your Beer Lines?

What is your process? The quickest easiest way (for me) to clean beer lines is with PET bottles, and a Kegland tee (ingenious product!). Quick and easy, no mess whatsoever. Of course you need to disassemble the taps from time to time, but I do this every time am changing to a new keg. Step One...

    Cleaning and Rinsing

After having a couple of batches recently that were just okay, and one that was actually a little off, I have decided to re-examine my cleaning and rinsing process. Mostly rinsing actually. I suspect that cleaning solution left behind may be the culprit. Iam open to any critiquing of the...

Water Profile in View and on Printout

I have decided to give the Brewers Friend recipe editor another go (I switched to Brewfather a few years ago when the recipe editor went haywire). Everything looks good, and seems to work well. I am glad to see that the "Other Ingredients" are part of the recipe builder now, and that editing...

    effects of fermenting under pressure

I saw a Brulosophy on this, after fermenting my last batch under pressure. The end result of the exbeeriment was that even knowing what the variable was the guy who brewed the batches could not distinguish one beer from the other. Except visually, the beer that was fermented under pressure was...

    WC IPA / Chinook

I rather have a surplus of Chinook... Has anyone ever done a Westie with Chinook only? I am thinking of doing one at 6%, bittering it with Magnum, and then Chinook for all other additions. 61% base malt 27.6% DME 6.7% Carapils/Carafoam 4.7% C60 Mashed low, say 65C (149F) 1059OG, 1008FG 70-80...

Partial Mash! Why didn't I do this years ago!

Some of you know about my journey in recovering from herniated discs, and that I didn't/couldn't brew for about a year and a half. My back eventually improved to the point that I could do all of the tasks, but handling the weight of the spent grains was still not an option. Enter brewing partial...

    Harvest Ale

I have formulated a recipe that I hope will be both a bit sweet, and a bit malty, while having a fairly significant ABV. Some complex flavors, a decent bitterness, with some aromatic pine and floral flavors from the late centenial addition. Think pumpkin ale without the pumpkin, and a bit more...

    Aging Beer in a Keg?

If I were to brew a 7.5% Double Chocolate Cranberry Stout (Bloody Finger) Would it age well in a keg at typical room temperature? Would it actually benefit (age) from 6 months in a keg in the fridge? Or would it need to sit at "cellar" or somewhat cooler than room temperature?

    Artificial Intelligence Beer!!! Nahhhhh

A friend was showing me this AI app, you can ask it anything and it just starts spitting out data. You can ask it to write a 3000 word essay on the migration of the Monarch Butterfly. Roughly 60 seconds later it is done. I asked him to ask it to write a recipe for a black IPA. After seeing what...

    Delphi Pilsner

My son just got home from a month in Greece, Spain, and Austria. He had some of these in Delphi, and although it is actually brewed there, he really liked it. I looked it up, and it sounds delicious, but of course they are trying to sell their beer. Has anyone in this global community had this...

How Much Headspace is Too Much?

Planning ahead to brew smaller batches, and will be doing extract batches when I do. I have 30L (8 USG) Speidels, will this be too much headspace if I brew 11.5L (3) gallon batches? My rational brain tells me that it should not matter...

Is 185 too hot for sparge water?

Looking at a coffee urn at Costco for sparge water, it has a keep warm setting which is 185F. Alternatively, I guess I could control it with an inkbird, will have to check the amp draw though...

    Happy Fazha's Day

    Brewzilla Remote Controller

Planning this as I go, but going to make it totally modular, and with a long enough cable to mount the controller somewhere convenient (not on the machine). I received these the other day, wish I could have found these made somewhere other than they were, but it is what it is... Stay tuned!

    Fancy Hydrometer?

Has anyone seen or heard of this? Looks gadgety to me, makes me wonder what cleaning it would entail.

    Wet Conditioning Grains

I have been wet conditioning for a while now. The reasons I started doing this were trying to improve efficiency, and to improve flow through the mash (I have a 35L Brewzilla). You hear about people struggling with stuck mashes, or excruciatingly slow mashes with these machines, for me this made...

American (West Coast) IPA Hop Rates for Flavor and Aroma

This thread is specifically about hop rates for flavor and aroma in an American IPA. I am curious to hear what others use for hop rates for this style. It is a bit of a running joke here that I am single handedly keeping the hop growers in business, but I have arrived at the hop rates that I...
