Beer was Carbonated in a keg then bottled

They were four different beer types, and I always do two weeks fermenting and check if the gravity is holding at the end. Then I keg, carbonate and leave for a few weeks. Only then, and I'm a month further on do I bottle one of two. So for all to still be fermenting or infected seems a bit...

Beer was Carbonated in a keg then bottled

Generally I keg my beer, as like many people, got a bit fed up with all the bottling work and cleaning. Much easier just pulling a fresh beer from a tap. But when I want to give some of my beers to friends, I naturally bottle it from the keg, and its already nicely carbonated. I had a pack of...

A bit of a late response, but if they are vacuumed packed and it wasn't crazy hot, they might still be good to use.

Beer was Carbonated in a keg then bottled

Hi All, I ran an experiment with a selection of different home brews, all brewed on my BM20, fermented 2 two weeks, then carbonated in a keg and left for a couple of week. All drank good off the keg, so I then used my bottle gun and bottled a selection, a stout, blond, IPA. Now when I was...

Liquid Wyeast didn't start after three days...added some dry

Well all, the lager eventually took off after 4 days and went nuts fermenting for a good week. I just took a sample gravity reading and its moved, but its still off the target so I shall leave it. However the strong chemical smell and strange similar sourish taste is rather awful coming off the...

Liquid Wyeast didn't start after three days...added some dry

Hi There Upon my review no fermentation had started after three days, there was also no krausen or activity within the wort itself. I've added the new dry yeast now and I might put this down to a lesson learnt in not to use packets of liquid Wyeast. As my previous 12 brews I've done I've never...

    Refractometer Question

I got a 20 dollar one off ebay and it works a treat, I double checked my first few brews using it and a standard hydrometer and both cracked out the same figures. I only use my refractometer prefermentation as I cant be bothered doing all the maths etc working out the alcohol reflection.

Hi All, Well I brewed a lager at the weekend, and to try something different I used a packet of liquid wyeast, (which was 6 months old) Now I noticed the smack pack didn't really expand after a few hours, but I poured it in and set the fermentation temp to 12c and left it to do its thing...

When to add ingredients like Vanilla, coffe & chocolate

Thanks again, Got the idea now, Cacao & lactose at the beginning of the boil and vanilla at kegging or prior to bottling. Now would you do the same when experimenting with an IPA? as I have a plan to make one and add orange & lemon skins to zing it up as an experiment.
