    question about hme

today i bottled my churchill ale. i did dry hop it with 1/2 oz of styrian hops for a week. i tasted a little and it was good, those hops came through but weren't overpowering. now i wait. last time i made this it took 6 weeks in the bottle - i'll let y'all know. i was hoping to use my homegrown...

    question about hme

yeah, i had second thoughts on that plan. the ale was good as it was when i made the first batch. i brewed (if you can call it that) it yesterday just as it was with no additions. i plan to dry hop it tho. how does 1/2 oz of styrian hops sound after 2 weeks out of my planned 3 in the fermenter...

    question about hme

thanks! i bought it at mr beer. if it's expired it'll go back. i thought the first batch i made could use more hoppage. i plan to go with maybe 3 oz of chocolate malt and about 10 grams of the fuggles for 15 min. just to make it mine. my first batch really was good after 6 weeks in the bottle...

    question about hme

my very first brew was with a mr beer kit, churchill nut brown ale. it turned out to be tasty for an "easy bake oven" brew. i bought another can w/yeast for real cheap and i'm going to make it. i'd like to personalize it by adding some steeping grain and some aroma hops. after steeping my grain...

    Hop Crop 2018

i picked one of my cones today just to see how mature it was. as i thought it's still green and will need more time. it had very little aroma but tasted quite bitter. i'm on the right track it seems. i've read on how to tell if they are ripe but i'm still a bit unsure as this is my first crop...

something like sam smith's nut brown ale

my second batch of ss has turned out pretty good. i did add c-pils and it has much better body, but at this point is a little hop forward. i tried the trub bottle at just shy of 4 weeks. i'll let it mature more and hope the hops diminish a bit. i came up with a new recipe and would like some...

something like sam smith's nut brown ale

it's been over 7 weeks since i bottled the first ss nut ale. it's turned out pretty good, but has the body and mouth feel of spring water.... it does have good flavor tho and more than enough abv. i made one big mistake after bottling, after 3 days in the bottle i noticed 7 of them had no...

something like sam smith's nut brown ale

i've bottled the ss nut brown ale over a week ago. it measured 1.012 fg. and tastes way better than the mr beer kit at this point. i did chill a bottle of the mr beer churchill ale and it was pretty darn good, well carbonated but still had a bit of a sharp taste. i'm gonna let it condition for...
