Mash Chemistry and brewing water for calculator for BIAB

Ok, another question for this thread: Are the amounts I am able to add under 'Salt Additions' for each gallon of water or for the entire Mash Water Volume? ie: I have 1.75 g of Calcium Chloride(0.4 tsp). Would this be 1.75 g added per every gallon of Mash Water or 1.75 g for the total Volume...

Mash Chemistry and brewing water for calculator for BIAB

Howdy: Just wondering what I have to put for 'Mash Water' in this instance as I'm doing BIAB. Would it be left at 0 or would the total mash volume be divvied up between 'Mash' and 'Sparge' ie: 3.8 each?

    Cleaning for Diastaticus Infection

I'm using bucket fermenters and Fermonsters. I thought I was being pretty clean, but I didn't know about the tenaciousness of the yeast strain. I'll take your advice to heart. Thanks for it. Is this your standard cleaning practice? Are you doing a PBW soak after every brew or just with the...

    Cleaning for Diastaticus Infection

Howdy: My last 7 batches have all been either finishing 50% lower than what was scheduled and/or all the bottles have been gushing. I realized that this has all been since I used a French Saison yeast. I consider myself a pretty sanitary brewer, but does anyone have and recommendations on how...

Dark Munich vs. Munich Dark in Recipe Editor

Does anyone know the difference between these two in the Recipe Editor? I'm trying to find Munich Type II(Weyermann's) and one of the listed Dark-Munich-Dark malts is apparently the afforementioned Weyermann's. The Disastatic power of Dark Munich is listed as 40. For the Munich Dark it's listed...

    Hello Beginners!

Any suggestions for doing 5 gallon batches of BIAB by electric stovetop? The first one I did took 9 hours from start to finish: it was a gentle boil and took FOREVER to reach boil-level. The second batch I did was a partial-boil(?) and then I topped up the fermenter to the recommended level...

    Hello Beginners!

I'd be guessing around 75% efficiency which is the average for BIAB. If it was 6.5 gallons post-boil, wouldn't it be diluted? Don't I want to aim for 5.5 gallons post-boil?

    Hello Beginners!

I have a question about BIAB and water size: How much water should I be adding for a typical 5% alcohol, 5 Gallon(finished) batch? I've researched multiple sites and they're all different, but most suggested roughly 7.5 +/- gallons, but Brewersfriend suggested 8.33 gallons. It's a pretty big...
