    White Labs Pure Pitch Viability

So I just got my first white labs pure pitch pack for a dry stout I’ll be brewing tomorrow so it will be ready by St. Paddy’s Day. MFG date is dec 17. This is good news with getting liquid yeast and not having to worry about brewing immediately after receiving th3 yeast package.

What am I screwing up in BIAB?

I have a 6.5 gallon big mouth bubbler, so I think my fermenter is big enough. That gallon after boil is normally sediment at the bottom of the kettle. I may hVe some wort that’s not transferee but not a gallon worth. I don’t know.

What am I screwing up in BIAB?

Grain bill is normally 10-12lbs. I believe my last brew session starting volume was 9 gallon. Mash complete/pre-boil was 8.1. Boil complete 6.5. Transferred 5.5 to fermenter and just packaged 5.1 gallons.

That's my thoughts exactly!!! I don't know how to whirl pool with my kettle. I do use a whirl flock tablet or Irish moss.

What am I screwing up in BIAB?

I do. I use Beer N BBQ by Larry's excel spread sheet as well as Brewers Friend Calculation. I packaged 5.1 gallons after my primary today which is pretty much my target. I filled up with 9 gallons to start. If I can't get my efficiency up ( I know as long as the beer tastes and smells good...

What am I screwing up in BIAB?

I double milled my grains on this last batch. I was lifting and squeezing twice because that is how I thought you mashed out with BIAB...Obviously, I'm wrong. lol I've got a spare Lowes bucket I may drill holes in the bottom for sparking. I normally put my grain bag on a grate that I set...

What am I screwing up in BIAB?

Good Morning Fellow Brewers. So here's my problem. So far I have done about 5 brew sessions of BIAB. I'm improving on my Conversion but I'm going up as much on my total brew house efficiency. I think my problem is in my boil? Since I am a semi Nerd I made a chart of last 5 brew sessions...

How many batches have you tossed?

That is exactly what I am trying to do. Buy a recipe and brew every two weeks. I do have a bad habit of obsessing. I did though buy another big mouth bubbler so now I have 2 BMB and 1 bucket so I can ferment at least 2 at a time.

How many batches have you tossed?

I've never tried drunk brewing lol

How many batches have you tossed?

Recipe calls for a 1-2 week primary and a 1-2 week secondary fermentation. Tomorrow ends my 1 week in primary but I’m thinking of going ahead and racking to secondary

How many batches have you tossed?

So, just in case anyone was was wondering, I cracked the lid of my brew today. Found myself a krausen ring. Recipe calls for 1-2 week primary and 1-2 week secondary. I'll probably leave it for another week (2 week) primary and then rack to secondary. Thank you all for calming my paranoia.

How many batches have you tossed?

I already have (1) big mouth bubbler with a tap. I'm going to buy another one, have decided if I want the tap on it or not. It would be easier to take a gravity reading than without a tap.

How many batches have you tossed?

I think I'm just going to buy another big mouth bubbler and stick to that in fermentation.
