T That's a great idea. I am in the same boat as you this Sunday there is a comp here, I will make sure to do that as well when possible.

    First Competion Results

Yeah I'd believe that. When I was living in New Zealand last year I went to the LHBS to pick up some Chinook and they had none. Guy in the shop told me they forgot to put it on the ship so no Chinook would be arriving til next year!! Crazy! Yeah I really don't know much about the scoring just...

    First Competion Results

I have a feeling Brendan is, I think I saw a post on Facebook a few weeks back of him getting his certificate but I could be wrong. It wasn't sold as a BJCP comp so I was happy with any feedback.

    First Competion Results

Hey Brewers, I entered my first comp a couple weeks back. A local craft brewery asked local homebrewers to brew their best beers and enter them for free, no limitations except that they had to be somewhat commercially viable as the winner gets to brew their beer at their brewery I put in the...

    Red Rye Ale

For anyone interested this is the finished product: Some Tasting Notes ( I'd take with a grain of salt ) Appearance: Darker than I wanted but still well within the Style Guidelines. Pours a great thick compact head, retention not fantastic but it never dies away completely. Probably the...

    Dark Saison

Interested to hear how this one works out. Can't help out much apart from saying the recipe looks good to me, I am working on my first Saison recipe, can't wait to make it. I read the Maltose Falcon post which made me a lot more confident that I wouldn't have it in one of my fermentors for...

    Yeast starter diluting wort

I love this idea of taking some wort! I want to try hit all my numbers for once something is always off, that's why I don't want to throw in the whole 3 litres.

    Yeast starter diluting wort

Sweet, from now on I will start my starters earlier, it's going to be tight for this batch but I should have time. How long will it take to crash, a few hours in the fridge maybe some time in the freezer?

    Yeast starter diluting wort

Hey Brewers So this may have been answered before or obvious but I searched and couldn't really find any info on the forums. I am brewing on Saturday, May 6th, I made up a 3-litre starter ( 1.045 ) a couple of hours ago. Only my 2nd starter ever. I am going to be pitching it into 22 litres of...

    Peated Stout

I have decided to dial it back, you guys beat me down :p I thought about a small batch, but have only ever done 20litres or around that, I don't like the idea of having to do more work with the yeast Sidenote: just bottled my Red Rye and sat down to enjoy a Karma Citra from Feral. Call me crazy...

    Peated Stout

Wouldn't I run into problems with starch conversion if I did this?

    Peated Stout

Shit, that's pretty harsh giving out worst in show. I am not a big scotch fan but my wife drinks the stuff neat so at least she will like it. I think after I few months I will be able to drink it. I have the 330ml bottles ready cause I do expect a lot of people will not finish their bottle.

    Peated Stout

Hey Brewers Hope to have my fermenters empty by Thursday and brew Friday curious does anyone have any thoughts on this bad boy. https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/429599/for-peat-s-sake Done as much reading about Peat Malt as I possibly can and decided that 115gm, was going to...

    Red Rye Ale

They are now both under 100kb. I will try again when the beer is ready and carbed up, I hope mods don't mind me bring threads back to life like I always do.

    Red Rye Ale

Got some poor quality photo updates. Colour is perfect thank you for the advice to pull back on the SRM. As it is I think it's decent for the style but I think that the 25grams of Citra yet to go in will finish it off nicely. Edit : can't get the photos to upload :/

    Complex Red IPA

Do you buy all your malt in bulk? I just give a list to the people at the LHBS and they give me the grain.
