    No airlock activity

Just a couple days ago I was looking into this very thing on the web and landed on YouTube for a bit. One I watched was by CraigTube titled 'Airlocks 101'. I found it pretty informative and it set my mind at ease by my non active airlock! With everything in place - lid, airlock with liquid -...

    Wrong Temp Probe???

Ok guys, we can give it a rest! I really didn't have any plans to do that, I simply was curious if there'd be any problem doing so. Your answers were mostly predictable to me but I thought maybe someone has had good results doing that. Thanks for the interest in setting me on the straight and...

    Wrong Temp Probe???

That's certainly the safer way...which I would do as well. Yeah, couldn't tell from the pic but was thinking refrigeration line would likely be the right size. I may have some in the 'plumbing box'! When you soldered up the crimped end, did you use any flux and if so, what did you use to...

    Wrong Temp Probe???

What would be wrong with soaking 3 or 4 feet of the probe wire in Star San and simply place it in the wort? Would ugly microbes 'crawl' down the wire from the part outside the ferment chamber making their way into the wort, thus tainting it?

    Wrong Temp Probe???

So, I'm going to assume I'm OK with the probe I have and that the producer of that YouTube vid I got the info from didn't know exactly what he was saying! Oh well, BREW ON guys! Thanks for your replies AND pics!

    Wrong Temp Probe???

Well, it's a bit late for me to query the cable length, since I already have it purchased and in my grubby little paws! The one I got was close to 6 - 7 feet long and is sufficient for my setup...

    Wrong Temp Probe???

Jeffpn, I believe it's got the black plastic covered end instead of the metal end. Seems that I saw someone in a YouTube vid say to be sure to not get the "aquarium" style probe - referring to the black plastic. But for the life of me I'm not going to go trying to find which vid it was since...

    Wrong Temp Probe???

I got in a hurry when ordering my STC1000 temp controller and didn't know until it arrived that it has the aquarium probe. Will this work as a wort temp probe for my fermenting chamber? Thanks...

    Fermentation Chamber

Thanks guys for your replies, they have served to further my education in the art of home brewing! I have my STC-1000 ordered and it should be here soon. I have the back side of the door removed and cleaned up with the seal replaced. I really debated whether to use a temp controller but seems...

    Fermentation Chamber

I'm fairly handy but would simply need an instructional... Any idea where I might find such? Thanks

    Fermentation Chamber

Hey guys, I'm in the midst of creating a fermentation cabinet by using an apartment size fridge that one of my customers was going to send to the local recycle center. Since I do not have a basement, it can be a challenge finding a cool enough place to let the magic happen. My question is...

I think I'm just up the road from you in south Montgomery Co...and that's a great idea! When I'm ready to pull the trigger, I'll come check them out...

    Kegging Question

Hey guys, not sure if this is the appropriate forum but will try it... Thinking about going to a keg or two at some point in the not-to-distant future and was wanting to get some opinions (advice) on the best way to go. I have very limited (read: no :-/) knowledge about them or how its done...

Ready to attempt our first BIAB session!

Maybe I'm stating the obvious here but it sure seems that this process is considerably more time consuming than extract brewing! I'm sure I must have ran across that tidbit of info somewhere when I was looking into doing BIAB but it obviously didn't 'stick' since it kinda took me by surprise...
