So the question of what to use in your airlock comes up from time to time. Here is my observation, 50/50 vodka and water seems to work great, and normally only needs to be topped off once. The other school of though is starsan. From what I have observe starsan tends to foam up and needs topping off daily.

So with that volka and water gets my vote.

Save you vodka for drinking!
Starsan all the way.

Agreed. I use starsan and yes it does "foam" but never had to top off with it. I use it in my growler with blowoff tube, and in a regular airlock.

We use Everclear, and top it up if it needs some.

Probably an overkill, but one less thing to worry about.

I use starsan mixed lightly, more water than normal, if you have an aggressive fermentation it will foam up thats why I mix it light

Either or. I've got a bottle of cheap vodka on hand that I usually use but sometimes I just use StarSan.

1" blow off tube into a cut top gallon milk jug with star san .. no topping off that .. and yeah, it foams up.
No worries, it can blow as big as it wants with that set up.

Airlock only for secondary, no foaming of star san there.
