Craigerrr's Travels

Took the Roobster to a pet friendly beach area today, she will sleep well tonight!

As our camping was a no go because we can't be trusted to socially distance in the middle of the woods (sarcasm), so we booked a couple nights at an Inn in Port Stanley on Lake Erie, as we can apparently be trusted to socially distance in a small beach town (more sarcasm). We had never been to Port Stanley, it is a very pretty little fishing/beach village.

Ah. Liquor Control Board of Ontario. Got it.

In Georgia (and many other states) beer & wine sales are almost everywhere: apply for a license and pay the cost, done. Liquor licenses are slightly more cumbersome but still virtually unlimited.

In New Jersey, the number of licenses is fixed, according to population, so in Paramus for example a pouring license might cost $2 million IF you can find someone willing to sell theirs. Package store is probably even more.

The "Control" is only truly to do with control of profits, and taxation. We also have the Brewer's Retail, which is owned and operated by big beer. This is a State negotiated, and mandated Monopoly. There rumblings now that the legislation permitting this may be overturned at some point. What is truly bizarre here is the many privately operated canibis retailers popping up. It flies in the face of the LCBO for controlling liquor and wine distribution, as well the State supported monopoly on beer sales.

They know who butters their bread.

Got some beach dogs, and fries for lunch and hung out for a while. Much cooler today than it has been recently at 20C (68F) the sun came out after a while. Here in Canada it is the Victoria Day holiday weekend, it is kind of deserted here this afternoon as most people have already headed for home. And again, as you can see, we can be trusted to socially distance on the beach, not sure what the logic is in not allowing camping in the woods...

Less government surveillance in the woods. They don't trust you when they can't see you...
