hey everyone,
I only have 1 "proper" fermenter, so when i have more then one batch happening i brew my other batches in bottling buckets.
i usually never take a Gravity sample because i usually give my beers a week extra time to ferment before cold crashing and never had issues.

so anyways i am in a time pinch and would like to check my gravity. is it okay to draw from the spigot and then just spray in some star san solution after?

any other methods that may be better?

thanks,

-Will

For plastic spigots, I used to use a squirt bottle of vodka to blast up into the opening and flush out any remains.Flushing with Star San will work but be thorough whatever you do.

I use vodka as well.
Either rub the spigot with it, or put some vodka in a plastic bag and sort of wrap around the spigot.
I would probably use starsan if I could get it ;)
