		<description>I built two stir plates according to magazine instructions using old computer parts. Neither of them worked worth a darn. Because of the price, I decided to try the StirStarter. That was about a year and several brews ago. It has turned out to be a great investment!</description>

This is only true if your starter container has a bottom surface that is not flat. Your 1Gal jug, for example, has a bottom surface that&#039;s curved upwards. If you use a flat-bottomed flask, a properly-built unit will not throw the stirbar.</description>
