What is the other black tubing on your false bottom. Something to hold it in place or an insertion point for a thermometer?

The false bottom was a purchase from Northern Brewer about three years ago. Honestly I have never had a stuck sparge, so I am not familiar with the ammount of rice hulls needed to set up a nice grain bed. Though, I have heard that #1 of hulls is plenty in any mash.

Looks like http://morebeer.com/ carries several models if you search for 'false bottom' at their site.

You could try BIAB method (article coming up on that 6/20 at this site), or a traditional manifold too. I have never had a stuck sparge with my copper manifold but I think the efficiency would be higher with other methods.

Hey Pol!
Where did you get that false bottom? I'm using a cheap SS braid still on my cooler and am trying to decide between a manifold or false bottom. My main goal is improved efficiency but I don't want to be having stuck sparges all the time. I use rice hulls anytime I have wheat or rye > than 3 pounds so I'm not sure if that's an issue for me or not.
