Honestly I have never had a stuck sparge, so I am not familiar with the ammount of rice hulls needed to set up a nice grain bed. Though, I have heard that #1 of hulls is plenty in any mash. You could try BIAB method (article coming up on that 6/20 at this site), or a traditional manifold too. I have never had a stuck sparge with my copper manifold but I think the efficiency would be higher with other methods.
